The connecting tubes are used to connect level 1 and level 2 or level 2 and level 3 surge protections when the physical distance between the arresters is insufficient (when both levels of protection are installed in one distributor).
By use of connecting tubes, the destruction of class II or class III surge arresters can be prevented.
