In compliance with the IEC 62305 standard, the class I surge protection represents the first level of protection or protection against 10/350 current surge wave, which mainly occurs as a result of an indirect or direct lightning stroke.
Class I surge protections may be manufactured as spark gaps, gas discharge tubes or arresters with a varistor. Their use and capacity to divert the current depend on the aforementioned element.
