In compliance with EIC 62305, class III surge protection signifies a high level of protection, capable of conducting smaller currents that occur as a result of switch surges or induction caused by a magnetic field as a consequence of a lightning stroke.
To provide suitable protection, class III surge protection may be placed maximum 7 m from the appliance.
