For maximum effect, the whole system of surge protection needs to be built. Such a system encompasses all three levels that need to be synchronized, and above all, chosen correctly.

Choosing the surge protection:

The correct choice of surge protection above all results from the current that may occur in the electric installation. In case class I surge protection has been chosen, the current depends on the expected lightning stroke or on the chosen level of lightning protection for the building.

For the surge protection to be reliable, it is not advisable to combine various levels of protection produced by various manufacturers. Certain parameters may differ, which causes the protection to be unreliable or non-existent.

HERMI surge protection elements ensure a reliable performance. In case a surge protection element breaks down, this is signalized in one of two ways:

• mechanic

A mechanic signalization of malfunction is installed in class I, I II and II surge protection elements. A signal button is installed on the element – in case of normal operation, the button is level with the face of the element, in case of malfunction or breakdown, the button springs out.

• remote

In case of remote signalization, 3 signal contacts are installed on the surge protection element. In normal operating conditions, contacts 1 and 2 are connected by a switch, in case of malfunction or breakdown, the switch connects contacts 2 and 3.
